The company

A house of photographers since 1973

Dominique Gautier founded Les Garennes in 1973, in the hamlet where he lived and which gave the company its name. He covered local shows at first, then travelled further afield season after season.

Hervé Le Louarn worked alongside him for three years before taking over in 2013. He knew the shows, the clients and the way the company worked before he was handed the keys. The equipment, the turnaround times and the working methods have all changed since. The pleasure is the same.

Depending on the event, the company fields up to fifteen photographers and covers 120 shows a year.

How we work

The way we work

Three principles hold the coverage of an event together.

Position

Our photographers know the sport they are shooting. They take up position where the effort shows, and they stay there.

Every competitor

From the first entry to the last, whatever the class and whatever the level. Without exception.

Sorting on site

From the stand, the team reviews the photos and matches them to each competitor while the class is still running. That is what holds the one-hour turnaround.

Join us

Photographer at shows

We take on photographers every season. At an event you shoot from the first competitor to the last, and the photos go online while the show is still running. No retouching: they have to be right in camera.

The days are long, the weekends are full, and a horse in motion does not forgive approximation. The people who stay with us enjoy that.

To see whether we can work together, we offer a full or half day trial, repeated if need be.

What to send us

  • A link to a recent gallery, ideally shot at a show
  • Your equipment: bodies, lenses (we lend ours if needed)
  • Your area and how far you can travel on season weekends
  • Your status: employee, self-employed, photography student

We reply to every application, including when the answer is no. Without a gallery to look at, we cannot give one.

The archive

Our digital archive goes back to 2002. Every photo taken since then is kept there, well beyond the two years they stay online.

If you are looking for an image that is no longer in the shop, write to us. We find it when it exists.

Organising a show?

A self-sufficient team, there from the first round to the last, that shows your event at its best without making work for you.
